Chambers Steak HouseChambers Steak House

A much needed addition to the Downtown dining scene, Chambers Steak House emerged with a very soft opening several months ago. After transforming a once-empty street-side building space into an elegant restaurant in rich reds and dark wood tones, the owners topped of the décor with a hearty and flavorful menu perfect for business lunches or intimate dinners for two. The lunch menu is full of all the traditional lunchtime fares– salads, soups and sandwiches– and all coincide with the distinctly legal theme of Chambers. The Probate, a delicious lunch option and a Chambers must-try, is a gourmet sandwich comprised of chicken, feta cheese and a scrumptious pesto sauce. If you’re looking for a quiet drink or two after a hard day’s work with a little something to nosh on, try the house cabernet (a humble but lovely Mondavi) and their freshly made bruschetta, a medley of fresh tomatoes and spices spread across perfectly toasted chunks of bread. If after-work cocktails should blend seamlessly into a dinner Downtown, you’ve got to go for what Chambers does best: steak. Sitting next to San Jacinto Plaza on a chilly winter’s evening, there’s simply no better option!

When was the last time you felt compelled to talk endlessly and lovingly about the bathroom at a bar? If you visit 1914 you will feel such an urge, as the bathroom walls are painted by a local artist ( the girl’s bathroom features the silhouette of a dandelion. ) How a bar or restaurant treats the bathroom décor is indicative of the attention to detail the rest of the establishment will get. Attention to detail is something 1914 is very good at.

Located in the heart of the Union Depot District, 1914 is a chic little bar catering to the after-work, hipster crowd. Behind the bar is a smart staff of friendly yet good-looking bartenders.

1914 has all kinds of cool features – plenty of chrome, big windows, stadium- style seating to view the DJ booth and crowd and contemporary art on the walls. Of course it goes without saying that 1914 makes you feel like you are in a busy metropolis – with the crowd, the great music and trendy atmosphere. Most nights offer hip DJ sounds, but if you’re looking for a particular DJ, be sure to visit www.myspace.com/1914lounge for event information.
