The El Paso Club

by Lisa Degliantoni

From atop the Chase Building in Downtown El Paso, one can see deep into Mexico and all the way up Mesa Street. After sunset, the view becomes a twinkling, starry delight— all of which is available for diners at the El Paso Club, El Paso’s exclusive, members-only club. Perched on the 16th floor of the Chase building, the El Paso Club caters to diners and socialites looking for an elegant meal and exceptional service. Lunch and dinner can be ordered from the menu or plucked from the buffet, which features various El Paso Club staples like chicken enchiladas, baked salmon, twice-baked potatoes and delicious Steamship round with au jus. Individual memberships cost $44 per month plus a $50 initiation deposit and provides members with access to the restaurant, meeting rooms and bar year round.

Downtown Sports Bar & Grill

by Lisa Degliantoni

Once the sun goes down over Downtown, there are only a handful of bars to frequent. One standby is the Downtown Sports Bar & Grill, located on the corner of Mills and Kansas. Open for cocktails every night of the week (except Sundays), DSB&G offers a great respite for after-work dining and cocktails before heading home or a quick drink after a show at The Plaza Theatre. With the ability to create virtually any alcoholic concoction you can imagine, DSB&G also offers yummy munchies to ward off the impending buzz. Fried pickles, anyone? The bar also presents live music on Fridays and Saturdays and features more than 20 TV screens broadcasting the latest sporting events. DJs periodically grace the bar with dance music, and the website always posts upcoming events.
